October marks the end of an intensive period during which Acrea and I personally supported the SWICA health insurance company for 1 year as Head of IT ad interim. With Fabian Ringwald, SWICA is now getting a passionate digitizer. We wish him every success and exciting challenges.
In autumn 2019, Acrea was asked whether we could imagine taking over the management of SWICA IT on a transitional basis. Although the request was received at relatively short notice, we did everything we could to make this possible, and so shortly after the request I was already standing in front of the assembled IT department together with the CEO and was allowed to introduce myself.
The following phase was of course marked by many linguistic abbreviations that I heard for the first time. In addition, I got to know a team that cultivates excellent cooperation and culture. In my opinion, culture is also what distinguishes SWICA: Willingness to help is actively lived. A good mixture of pragmatism and attention to detail is evident right up to the management level. To sum up, working at SWICA was great fun, but also brought some exciting challenges, which the densely packed project portfolio but also daily IT operations brought with them. One episode that was particularly exciting from an IT perspective was, of course, when SWICA was able to transfer the work traditionally performed on site to the home office within a few days due to the COVID-19 pandemic without having a significant negative impact on daily operations.
From the beginning of 2020, I was also allowed to join SWICA Recruitment and the CEO in the search for a suitable successor via personal network and social recruiting. The response to our inquiries was extremely good. By means of telephone interviews, on-site discussions with sufficient distance and assessments via video conference, a long list was turned into a short list and finally into a two-way ticket to the SWICA Board of Directors, where Fabian Ringwald finally succeeded. In my view, with Fabian Ringwald, SWICA is ideally equipped for the digital challenges of the future.
I wish Fabian every success, exciting challenges, cool projects, tricky problems, good cooperation and of course a lot of fun in his new role and look forward to the next interesting tasks with and at Acrea in accordance with our motto «Making Digital Work». Contact
